How AI Rewired My Creative Process

How AI Rewired My Creative Process

AI didn’t damage my creativity. It didn’t steal my job, water down my vision, or make me irrelevant. It rewired me. Before the advent of AI, my process was solid and intuitive. I had a clear sense of agency and direction. Do you remember your first day using Midjourney? By the end of my first week, I had an illustrated book and dozens of images to use in my creative work. It didn’t just tweak my flow, it blew the whole thing wide open.

Levelling Up

It wasn’t about shortcuts. It wasn’t automation. It was an explosion. Color. Motion. Style. A universe of possibilities was now at my fingertips. Suddenly, I wasn’t creating individual artworks. I was dancing between infinite possibilities. It was disorienting. It was addictive. It was absolutely thrilling.

AI encouraged me to evolve and invited me forward. Before, I spent my time making things. Now, I spend my time making things “happen.” I have become the eye of a creative storm. It didn’t change what I wanted to say. AI can’t feel. It doesn’t struggle or obsess. It doesn’t care. That’s my job.

It’s Depth That Matters

AI lets me pursue ideas I’d never had time to pursue. It allows me to create in mediums that were once out of reach. It provides creative support. Storyboards. Vibrant imagery. It brings the unexpected. I throw chaos into this machine, and it outputs multicolored threads to pull on, remix, and rebuild. And in that freedom, it has helped me focus.

Style Is the New Superpower

AI made creation accessible to everyone. This opened the floodgates to mediocre art. But here’s the twist. Now that anyone can create art that is “good enough,” having great taste is suddenly that much more valuable.

That’s not in the algorithm. That’s in you.

Why Do We Create?

In the middle of machine-powered chaos, there is one constant.

“Why” we create is really all that matters. It always has been.

AI can’t feel heartache. It’s never been haunted by failure. It doesn’t wake up at 3:00 a.m. wondering if it has done enough. It is uncanny in its ability to render reflections, harmonize color, and synthesize styles, but without the ability to feel emotion, it can’t move art forward.

Don’t fear AI, but do consider the years of training it takes to become a meaningful artist, because that hasn’t changed.
